Bumblehorn was born at the same time as my daughter, when my whole world changed.

Not only did my heart grow in ways I could never describe, but I began to pour my creative energy into the fantastical world of a child. My normal writing changed to stories about all the new stuffed animals that now populated my house. My music turned into lullabies to sooth my daughter, and fun beats to rap my crazy stories over. I reached out to my close creative friends to collaborate and bring these character to life, and Bumblehorn was born...

Bumblehorn is here to blend story telling with music and hip hop, combining our books with vinyl records that create a musical backdrop to the story. Everything we create comes from the friends and artists shown below - from the stories written based on stories to my daughter, to the illustrations drawn and painted by Joonbug, to the music created via collaborations with an assortment of musicians.

Meet the Artists

Orin

MC, poet, producer, and the Founder and Chief Daddy Officer of Bumblehorn. Orin is a bit of a nut with some screws loose missing from a basket a few eggs short of a dozen. He is the author of our books, and also business guy that cooks the books to confuse the accountants (do we have accountants?). Orin also produces music and helps piece together the funk puzzle (the fuzzle).

Joonbug

Coffee caffeinated Caribbean cartoonist. Joonbug was actually born as a cartoon and one day he wished really hard to be a real boy and the great pencil in the sky granted his wish. When he isn't splashing paint on a canvas or wall, designing clothing, or developing film from his shutterbug photo walks, he communes with the cartoon spirits from whence he came to bring our characters to life.

MC, poet, producer and founder of #teamfromnowhere. -topic is a kid that masquerades around inside an adult suit, and has deceived enough people to thrive in the world of grown ups. To him we say "God speed!" for the ongoing success of this clever ruse, and in the meantime tap him on the shoulder for funky beats and ideas. When -topic isn't Bumblehorn'ing about, he's doing other cool stuff, like touring with Flying Lotus, producing and writing his own albums, and backflipping on a stage somewhere near you.

Domino

Producer, sound engineer, vocalist, and technical wizard of #teamfromnowhere. In the forest of sounds there are many animals, and Domino is a teddy bear that prefers to cuddle with his headphones on. Sometimes he likes to hide behind the trees in the forest, but we can still find him if we know where to look... Did you hear that vocal sample drop in with the kick drum? There's Domino! Did you hear how the bass blended in perfectly behind the guitar? There you are Domino! You can't hide from us!

Singer, song writer, music therapist, wife and mom. Deb has all the warmth of a Brazilian beach in her smile, and when she sings children flock to her like a bossa nova Pied Piper. It's not only children that love Deb, but manatees have been known to sway in the warm waters to sounds of Deb's voice, and even come close to shore as if Deb's songs were a tropical siren's call. It seems only fitting that Deb would write a cancao for our favorite mustached manatee, Melvin.

Alejandro Perez (AP)

Educator, musician, poet, acrobatic capoeira b-boy and super dad. AP is a magical musical mystic, molding maturing minds with melodies from your memories. In one moment he may be slapping a djembe drum, and the next he's reciting poetry in a handstand. When he's not laying down a scratch-tastic beat box for Bumblehorn, you can find him inspiring crowds of children and adults alike to connect and collaborate with compassion.
